ABOUT ME

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. I am Özlem Evans, a German journalist with Turkish roots.

 

It is strange writing about myself, as I am used to writing about others. Where do you start?

I love speaking to people and I love that I was able to make that my profession. I remember my first big interview. It was in 2003, I was an intern at a big paper in Germany I was chosen to interview Angelina Jolie. 45 minutes. Live!

​

I obsessively prepared for the encounter, I was so nervous as they were putting the microphone on, thrilled when Angelina Jolie walked in. As they counted me down and I started to interview her, my nervousness was gone and I went for it. And it worked! And I knew then that this is what I wanted to do. So almost 20 years and hundreds of interviews, dozens of red carpet hosting and other fun things like dubbing the German broadcaster in the German version of "Zootopia" - here we are.

I am now a freelance writer based in Berlin and Cappadocia, still working on all things entertainment, but also expanding into other topics.

​

To me it's always about seeing the person behind the persona. No matter how big they are to the outside world, it's the small details that interest me.
